Longfield transition

“Longfield” is a literal translation of “Langjordet”, which is the name given to a field belonging to the farm Upper Vaggestein north in Maridalen outside Oslo. The farm is one of many in the valley owned by Oslo municipality, and we have started a dialogue with the lessees to look at the possibility of a long-term collaboration. Before we can clarify this, we need to develop a project, and it is always good to have a concrete land area to start from. What will eventually be shown on this page is therefore not set in stone, but shows no matter how we at Bi-O think a piece of future agriculture can look like. Then we’ll see if we can get an agreement in place that both parties want to realize right here, or if we have to use this as a step on the way to a new location.

The map shows the northern part of Maridalen with cultivated land marked green, and our locality in deep green. The marked circle represents how far bees fly from the cube, about 3 km (see why this is important in Bi-O’s vision).
